An Under-Discussed but Common Problem

Piles, fissures and fistulas are among the most common anorectal conditions we see in clinic, yet patients often delay seeking help due to discomfort discussing the topic — sometimes for years, until surgery becomes the only option left on the table.

In Ayurveda, these conditions relate to aggravated Vata and Pitta affecting the Guda (anorectal) region, most often triggered by chronic constipation and poor Agni.

When Non-Surgical Care Works

Many cases, especially in earlier stages, respond well to a combination of personalized herbal formulations to reduce inflammation and support healing, a fibre and Agni-correcting diet plan, and guidance to prevent recurrence — primarily around bowel habits and avoiding prolonged straining.

Advanced or chronic cases are assessed individually, and we're upfront when a case may need surgical evaluation alongside Ayurvedic care rather than instead of it.

What to Expect During Consultation

Given the personal nature of these conditions, we offer both online and in-clinic consultations at our Sri Ganganagar hospital. Dr. Himmat Singh Johal specializes specifically in anorectal disorders, having assessed thousands of patients with piles, fissure and fistula.
